When I pronounce the word ‘Bangladesh’ it induces a magical feeling in my mind. It is probably very difficult to express how I feel and make you understand how it feels like to be a Bangladeshi or show you the numerous features that makes my motherland, so special and beautiful.

Geographically Bangladesh lays on the equator or more precisely on the northeastern portion the Indian subcontinent. It has an approximate area of about 56,977 sq miles. On the southern part she touches the Bay of Bengal.

It is a country of beautiful rivers and eye soothing natural beauty. Green is the color of our country that decorates the nature with various fruits, flowers and vegetables. The natural harmony helps to induce life and happiness in people’s daily lives.

It is a secular country with majority of Muslims. English is our second language and so we can communicate well internationally. Our resources include jute, rice, and sugar canes and also hardworking and honest manpower. Our population density is very high which comprises 2% of the world’s population.

Our country has golden histories of language movement in 1952 and the war of independence for nine months in 1971. After 1971 our country began to develop gradually in economic, social, cultural, technological, academic and political grounds. Many scholars were born in our country who contributed in the development of the nation. People of our country are very hospitable, dedicated and innocent. Bangladesh is my birthplace and I am honored to be a Bangladeshi.
