Hail to Thee, our Alma Mater
We with loving hearts proclaim,
Long may our school live
Ever glorious be her name.
Orient skies smile upon us
As we pledge our love anew,
Holy Cross, we shall be loyal
Holy Cross, we shall be true.
Through the years our song will echo
As we walk our paths apart,
Each note will bind us closely
To our Alma Mater's heart.
Orient skies smile upon us
As we pledge our love anew,
Holy Cross, we shall be loyal
Holy Cross, we shall be true...

Zakir Hossain : The name of the Institution is Holy Cross College (Dhaka) in Bangla হলিক্রস কলেজ according to wikipedia, there's nothing called by the school part only. Why didn't you continue after passing class ten in there? Since you praised the college so much didn't you think that it would be beneficial for you to continue in that college?

Tina S : Thanks for your comment. I was a student of Humanities group in Holy Cross School. But later I had decided to study in Business group and that time Holy Cross College offered only Science and Humanities. So I admitted in Dhaka City College, which is also the Best college for Business Studies in Dhaka City.:-)

Zakir Hossain : I doubt if City College is the best one but that's not the point. According to wikipedia article , it says that this college has commerce section since 1999. So you've passed your SSC before 1999? You are one of the old students I guess, you probably don't know how bad this college has turned out to be in reality.

Tina S : Hmm..actually Holy Cross School Has commerce section since 1999, the information which Wikipedia provides is not correct. College has commerce section since 2004 or 2005. There is no doubt that Wikipedias' information is not true..there should be school instead of college. You can go to school for actual information or ask any student from this school.

Zakir Hossain : So, you are saying that Wikipedia is wrong and you are right? Well, I've wrote a little write-up on the information that I have been able to gather from my friends who studied in that college, in both school and college sections, and in both science, humanities and business studies section; you may care to read it and comment on it.

Tina S : :-) I was a student of this school, my elder also sister was a student of both school and college. And in my family most of my cousins were study in Holy Cross, my friends and their sisters also were students of Holy Cross. So I know better then anyone. I didn't study in this College only because there was no commerce section. Later since 2005 the college has commerce section. My own cousin was the first batch of this commerce section.

Zakir Hossain : Even for the sake of discussion, if I agree that wikipedia is wrong and you are right, then at least tell me something; if this school is so good then why they haven't been able to open the commerce section until 2005?

Tina, S ,, Photos, Picture, Album

Tina S : Oh God, School has opened commerce since 1999 and college in 2005. College hasn’t able before because there was not enough space. The building was not enough for more classes. Later college made new buildings and auditorium for more classes.

Zakir Hossain : So, the institute opened as early as 1966 but they haven't been able to accommodate enough space in 33 years, does it sounds like a very efficient organization?

Dec 8, 2009 at 08:50 AM, Tuesday

Tina, S ,, Photos, Picture, Album

Tina S : If you don't think that it’s an efficient organization then I have nothing to do. You can make a survey to know that “is Holy Cross efficient organization or not?” Only it can help you.

Zakir, Hossain ,, Photos, Picture, Album

Zakir Hossain : Even if I make a survey on how efficient that college is then I'd find that the teachers don't teach in classes but in coaching centers; they totally waste the talents of the humanities and business studies group students, they unnecessarily keep the students occupied with physical exercises, science group students are making good result only because they are already good students before getting admitted there, etc, and in fact I've wrote a whole article on how they are manipulating the students instead of teaching them any good. Why aren't you reading that properly? See, in most cases you have to deduce logically, instead of just statistics, see the reasons behind the numbers. If you make a survey on "how many patients trust apothecary (kobiraji) and how many patients trust modern medical science" then there's a huge chance that apothecary might win. So, in order to find out which one is more applicable you have to advance logically, as I did in my article.

Zakir Hossain : I can give you a long list of such schools and colleges but before that tell me, are you trying to justify your mistakes by showing that others are doing the same mistakes too? See, showing that others are bad doesn't makes you good, if you want to say something is good then that something has to be good independently, whether others are or not. Anyway, let's come to the list of colleges where teachers don't teach outside, none of the private colleges, like Pioneer, Lorel International etc colleges teachers don't teach outside; but let's just say that none of the Madrasa teachers teach students outside, they teach the Madrasa Shikkha Board Curriculum within the perimeters of the school as good as they can. Is that example good enough for you? Also, I wanted to add, you are taking this discussion way too personal, I thank you for contributing your opinion in this side and sharing your view with us, but you also have to remember that being a blind fan of something doesn't really leads to a good result. If you like your own school, I'm fine with that, but even if you like that don’t mean that you don't look at the faults. When you are praising some institution aren't you suppose to show the bad sides too? Why are you trying to show that it is a good practice even if the teachers teach outside? In this way, aren't you supporting the corruption just because it was the school where you studied?

Zakir Hossain : Have you noticed that, there are several repeating sentences in your comment? Anyway, sure, you are free to post any article or any write-up you want, and anyone including me has the same right as you have to post any comment or article on anything. You wrote your article, I wrote mine, you wrote your comment I wrote mine. Where's the mistake? It's a good thing that you are proud of your school, but being proud at something doesn't mean that you should see the mistake of your school. If you have an open mind you should be able to analyze both the pros and cons.
